Carbon pressure contacts
Carbon pressure contacts are operated via pressure-sensitive mats or contact fields.
Two contact surfaces of different potential are short-circuited. The pressure contacts consist of multiple copper surfaces that are completely printed with a carbon paste.
Printing the contact surfaces with a carbon paste passivates the copper surfaces and ensures a consistent, low-level contact resistance over the life of the contact. This contact resistance depends e.g. on the printing and counter pressure and is typically <20 Ω.
Carbon pressure contacts by Würth Elektronik are very dependable, almost wear-free and resistant to a large number of environmental factors in an industrial setting. They are of higher quality than chemical nickel gold solutions and are significantly more affordable than galvanic gold versions of the same quality.
