SKEDD at electronica 2016

Breakthrough with SKEDD direct plug-in technology? – This was the headline of a article in the official electronica daily newspaper from the publisher “Markt & Technik”. The question is not unjustified. No fewer than four companies presented their innovations in SKEDD technology at this year’s electronica.

The path leading eastwards from the west entrance at electronica 2016 could also be called the “SKEDD trail”.

  • Diehl Metal Applications (DMA) presented its product portfolio incl. SKEDD applications in Hall B2.
  • Lumberg Connect was also represented in Hall B2. The specialist for the RAST connector in insulation displacement technology, showed its new connector in SKEDD technology, which enables smart plugging at every position on the circuit board in IDT technology.
  • In Hall B3, Phoenix Contact presented its SKEDD innovations with push-in spring connection by means of a moving oversized 3D model.
  • At the end of the “SKEDD trail” Würth Elektronik ICS, the inventor of SKEDD technology, introduced its standard and customer-specific product portfolio for wire-to-board and board-to-board applications in Hall B4.

On 9 November the SKEDD technology partners presented the latest insights and product solutions in SKEDD technology at the Exhibitor Forum in Hall B5.

Dr. Klaus Wittig, the CEO of Würth Elektronik ICS, greeted the trade visitors and introduced the topic. He explained the principle of SKEDD technology and referred to its reliability as confirmed in several tests conducted by accredited labs.

Ansgar Kathmann, Manager of Phoenix Contact COMBICON control in his presentation introduced the SDC 2.5 and SDDC 1.5 product series, which combine SKEDD with push-in spring connections.

Holger Kabbert, Sales Manager Key Customer Projects in Global Sales at Lumberg Connect explained how the company combined the SKEDD technology with the established insulation displacement technology (IDT).

The trade visitors showed great interest in the SKEDD presentations.

Anne Kramer, Product Manager Press-fit Technology at Diehl Metal Applications (DMA) presented the company’s SKEDD technology product portfolio.

As the last speaker, Achim Engel, Product Manager for SKEDD technology at Würth Elektronik ICS, presented the standard portfolio and customer-specific developments in SKEDD technology.

At the end of the presentation series, all the speakers gathered again on the stage to respond to questions from the trade visitors.
