Anywhere voltage, current and frequencies are present EMI issues can arise. Combined with limited space like in automotive applications it is a quite challenging job for engineers to design applications according to international standards e.g. CISPR 25. Therefore, it is important to understand which kind of EMI interference has to be suppressed and where it comes from. Cable and PCB ferrites can help to stay within EMI limits given by standards. How they work and how to use them in an efficient way will be explained in this session. Also their function regarding the EMI noise will be discussed.

Today an innovative sensor system contains much more than just the single sensor cell. The increasing miniaturization in microelectronics development makes it possible today to design ASICs with remarkable performance and minimal size (Moore’s law). The presentation will show that besides an analogue to digital converter also complex digital signal processing is integrated. The performance of the ASIC is not only used to guarantee a compensated and balanced output signal. Complex algorithms also ensure signal evaluation, so that only application-relevant information needs to be forwarded.

Horticulture – or how to have fresh vegetables, from sustainable, ecological and energy efficient sources, have experienced a worldwide boom with the development of new efficient LED light sources. Würth Elektronik eiSos offers a wide range of products for Horticulture applications, with different power and wavelength. Unfortunately, with such large choices, there are a lot of open questions about the correct application and choice of LEDs. 3 PM: DC/DC Input Filtering – Watch out, instability is about. Design criteria and pitfalls of input LC filter for a DC/DC regulator

Conducted emissions filtering introduced on the input of a DC/DC regulator are common for various applications. PoE, 48V, 24V, or 28V DC rail systems are some of those. On the face of it, this is a simple and effective LC filter solution to achieve compliance and to reduce differential mode noise at the switching frequency of the regulator and its harmonics to the required limit levels of the relevant standard. We will investigate the pitfalls of this simple solutions and how to select the L and C and what impact they have on the stability of the power supply control loop.

We live in a world where we are surrounded by a wide variety of electronic devices, all operated by one or more converters. Nowadays, every developer expects the highest efficiency and best EMC behavior from these converters. If a few simple rules from analog technology are observed, it is possible to meet these requirements.

In our webinar we will look at converters under different aspects and work out the appropriate filter. The different filters will be compared using a simulation program.

Even if there is no universal solution that fits every design, we will look at several examples of converters and discuss the solutions used.
